The Rolex Cellini is a line of luxury watches that has been in production since the mid-20th century. It was first introduced by Rolex in 1968 and named after the Italian Renaissance artist Benvenuto Cellini, who is known for his exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The original Cellini models were designed to be dress watches. They were intended to appeal to a more sophisticated and refined clientele than Rolex’s sporty models. The early Cellini watches had slim cases and minimalist dials that emphasized clarity and legibility.
Cellini 4959
The Rolex Cellini 4959 is a dress watch set with diamonds to create a stunning and luxurious timepiece. This version of the Cellini 4959 features an 18k yellow gold case and a champagne dial that measures 38mm in diameter.
What truly distinguishes this version is it’s remarkable bracelet. Set with round diamonds at the centre and accompanied by coloured sapphires along the sides to create a rainbow effect. Sourcing the precise stones for this piece is an incredibly challenging, hence why it is an ultra-rare collector’s item.
Similar to other Cellini 4959 models, this timepiece is powered by Rolex’s in-house Calibre 1195 movement, a self-winding marvel with a commendable power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
As for its value, due to its rarity, it is difficult to determine. However in recent years this watch has changed hands for around $150,000.
